MeowWonder is an independent pet safety platform. We do not sell products, provide veterinary services, or accept sponsorship that influences our content. We compile toxicity data, breed health information, and emergency guidance from authoritative veterinary sources and present it in a format that pet owners can actually use — clear, searchable, and immediately actionable.
Where Our Data Comes From
Every toxicity entry on MeowWonder is compiled from multiple authoritative sources:

- Pet Poison Helpline — board-certified veterinary toxicologists
- Veterinary Partner / VIN — peer-reviewed veterinary reference
- MSD Veterinary Manual — the standard veterinary reference text
- Peer-reviewed toxicology journals — PubMed-indexed research
We do not create original toxicity assessments. We aggregate, structure, and translate existing peer-reviewed data into a format optimized for pet owners in an emergency. Every entry includes the substance's toxic principles, dose thresholds, symptom timelines, and emergency actions — all sourced from the references above.
How We Work
Our toxicity data is structured into a searchable database with consistent fields: scientific name, toxic principles, danger level, dose threshold, target organ, symptoms, and emergency action. We apply the MTI (MeowWonder Toxicity Index) — a 1-10 proprietary scoring system that combines toxicity severity, dose sensitivity, and speed of onset — to help pet owners quickly assess risk without reading a full veterinary journal article.
Content is reviewed against current veterinary toxicology references before publication. Dose calculations are validated against published LD50 data where available. We include interactive dose calculators that let pet owners input their pet's weight and estimated amount consumed to receive a risk assessment — but these calculators are educational estimates only. Individual animal responses vary based on age, breed, pre-existing conditions, and concurrent substance ingestion.

MeowWonder is built and maintained by a small independent team. Our content is researched and structured by contributors with backgrounds in data science, veterinary reference, and technical writing. We work with licensed veterinary professionals who review our toxicity entries for accuracy against current peer-reviewed references. We do not claim to be veterinarians. We claim to be people who know how to find, verify, and structure veterinary data so that you can use it when you need it.
Why We Built This
When a dog eats chocolate or a cat chews a lily, the owner's first instinct is to search online. What they find is a mix of accurate veterinary information, outdated forum posts, and dangerously wrong folk remedies. We built MeowWonder to be the reliable first result — structured, sourced, and reviewed — so that in the minutes that matter, a pet owner gets accurate information fast.
