Core Wound Care (10 Items)
- Sterile non-stick gauze pads (3×3 and 4×4 inch)
- Self-adherent wrap bandage (Vetrap or CoFlex) — do NOT use adhesive tape directly on fur
- Antiseptic solution: povidone-iodine (Betadine) diluted 1:10 with water or chlorhexidine 0.05%
- Sterile saline solution for wound flushing
- Disposable exam gloves (nitrile, non-latex)
- Blunt-tipped bandage scissors
- Tweezers (for splinter and tick removal)
- Styptic powder (for broken nail bleeding)
- Antibiotic ointment (triple antibiotic without lidocaine — lidocaine is toxic to cats)
- Medical tape (for securing bandages, not on fur)
Emergency Tools (8 Items)
- Digital rectal thermometer + water-based lubricant (normal dog/cat temp: 100-102.5°F / 37.8-39.2°C)
- Muzzle — even the gentlest pet may bite when in pain
- Slip lead (for emergency restraint or rescue)
- Flashlight with extra batteries (for examining mouth, eyes, and wounds in poor light)
- Eye wash (sterile ophthalmic saline)
- Tick removal tool (not tweezers — specialized tools prevent mouthpart retention)
- Disposable syringes (3mL and 10mL without needles for oral medication and wound irrigation)
- Emergency ice pack (instant chemical cold pack)
